British Institute in Eastern Africa Research Grants 2020/2021

Good news! British Institute in Eastern Africa Research Grants second call for application is presently on. Every annum, the British Institute in Eastern Africa (BIEA) calls applications for small Thematic Research Grants. These funds are generally disseminated via two calls for applications each year, regularly released in June/July and December.

The British Institute in Eastern Africa (BIEA) summonses applications for funding for original research works in any field in the humanities and social sciences in eastern Africa. Projects that fall outside of these disciplinary areas will not be considered (and will not, for example, fund projects in STEM subjects), but may consider projects in Africa beyond eastern Africa. We define eastern Africa as stretching from Sudan down to Mozambique, and Zambia across to Madagascar. Applications from researchers or research teams who have limited access to other sources of funds, and which engage with one or more of the following thematic areas is welcomed. Precedence will be given to researchers residing in the UK or eastern Africa.
