Good news! Algeria Youth Leadership Program at University of Nevada is open at the moment. Submissions for the Algerian Youth Leadership Program are accessible from November 1-29, 2020. Algeria Youth Leadership Program at University of Nevada will be thorough, academic, and very interactive to the end that partakers develop their abilities in order to be operational leaders in their schools and communities. Members will work with professors and scholars from the University of Nevada, School of Business and that Reynold School of Journalism, local consultants and community businesses and organizations. Applicants will utilize the skills acquired from this program to form a service project for their home community.

It is a four-week, completely funded, U.S-based cultural exchange program, concentrated on the primary themes of civic education, youth leadership growth, regard for diversity, and community engagement. Partakers will involve in a range of activities, such as workshops on leadership and service, community site visits associated to the program themes, interactive training and discussion groups, small group activity, presentations, local cultural events, and homestays with American families, among other activities.

Eligibility for Algeria Youth Leadership Program at University of Nevada

Algerian youth applicants

Youth who are eligible to apply must:

  • Be a legal citizen of Algeria
  • Be between 15 to 17 years old on 11th of June, 2021
  • Have at least a year of high school remaining after the program.  If you are picked as a semifinalist, you will be expected to submit an original high school transcript and a school certificate to verify that you have at least a year of high school left.
  • Have proven English skills, adequate for understanding academic discussion and everyday social dealings 
  • Have shown leadership in their schools and/or communities 
  • Show interest in the program themes of social entrepreneurship, leadership and project growth and would like to partake in academic classes and do work to develop in these areas
  • Get permission from their parent(s) or legal guardian to partake in the whole program 
  • Ought not to have a relative to the Northern Nevada International Center, their Algerian partner Action Bénévole pour la Citoyenneté & le Développement, or the U.S. Department of State

Algerian adult applicants

Adults who are eligible to apply must:

  • Be legal citizens of Algeria
  • Work keenly mentoring youth in their professional or volunteer doings 
  • Be community leaders 
  • Have excellent English
  • Should be devoted to working with the Youth Leadership Program partakers after their arrival from the United States to help in the implementation of community works 
  • Should have travel experience outside of their home state or region (international travel experience is not required-program staff will travel with you to the U.S.)
  • Be dedicated to the goals and standards of the program, including civic leadership, diversity and nurturing regional and global connections

Benefits of Algeria Youth Leadership Program at University of Nevada

They will pay for ground transportation to and from Algiers, international transportation to and from the USA, orientations and workshops, program expenses and administration, site visits and seminars, accommodation and most meals, some cultural events, educational materials, and accident and sickness insurance coverage. Participants will stay with volunteer host families.
