Eligibility for Kellogg Institute Visiting Fellowships in USA

To be eligible for Kellogg Institute Visiting Fellowships in USA, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • The Institute welcomes applications from well-known scholars and practitioners who do not have a Ph.D.
  • Advanced ABD graduate students may apply, but awards are dependent on their having finished the Ph.D. before starting the fellowship.
  • Advanced English language proficiency is required.
  • Foreign nationals must have a valid passport and be able to obtain a J-1 Visa.

Other Considerations

According to US immigration regulations, a person who concludes a period of stay of below five years as a J-1 professor or research scholar and does not have another appointment instantly following the end of said stay, cannot come back to the US as a J-1 professor or research scholar up until the person has been outside the US for a minimum period of two years. This two-year bar is not the same as the two-year home residency requirement usually issued to J-1 scholars.
